Confirmation at Our Savior's Lutheran Church begins in the fall of the 7^th grade year and the students confirm their faith in the spring of their 9^th grade year. We start class in September meeting 6:30 pm in Bethany Hall for brief worship, large group instruction and small group discussion ending 8:00 pm. 

We use the exciting new curriculum from Augsburg fortress Here We Stand.  Each student also receives The Lutheran Handbook.  If you don’t have one you must get a copy!  It is a very well done guide for how to live out Lutheran/Christian faith in today’s world. Each student is required to be in class and worship with their family on Sunday Morning.  There will be assignments of memory work and take home sheets.  Each student must attend one of the following youth events.  Jr-High Synod Youth Gathering, the Revolve Tour, 30 hour Famine, or the Sr. High Synod youth gathering (9^th graders).  The following are the requirements per age group:

Sixth Grade: These students will be asked to help acolyte on Sunday Mornings.  They have so much enthusiasm to help in the Church and this would help the program out a lot.  Once ninth graders are confirmed they are not expected to acolyte.  This places a huge amount of work on the seventh graders to acolyte during the month of May and all through the summer months.

 Seventh Grade:  Requirements: 20 Worship Note Points*

                         Two Individual Service Projects

                         Acolyte in Worship

 Individual Service Project

            Help a neighbor

            Change the Church Sign for three months

            Write a newsletter article for three months

            Make a banner

            Write a politician

            Provide Nursery service during choir practice for three months

            Adopt a Grandparent

            Hunger Lock-in to raise funds for world hunger

            Work at Soup Kitchen

            Adopt a Highway

            Others as approved by Pastors

 Eighth Grade:

            Requirements: 20 Worship Note Points*

                                 Two Worship Service Participation**

                                 Acolyte in Worship.

 Ninth Grade:

            Requirements: 15 Worship Note Points*

                                       Three Worship Service Participations**

Worship Notes taken on Sunday will be due the following Wednesday. Worship notes will be taken while in worship.

No late notes will be accepted.

 ** Worship Service Participation:  The point is to get our young people involved in worship, so that after they are confirmed they will continue to see worship as a valuable experience in which they can serve and be served.  They must chose one service participation from Group A and one from Group B.  Items in Group B can be done as individuals or as a group of two or three.  If two or three participate together in an item in Group B, they must do as many items as there are people in their small group.  This participation must be completed by May 31st.
